iPhone 6, What’s New Compared to the iPhone 5 Models?

Should You Upgrade to iPhone 6 or 6s from an iPhone 5 Model?

If you still have one of the iPhone 5 models, you may be wondering if an upgrade to the iPhone 6 or 6s is worth it–especially if your phone is still working just fine. In this post we’re going to check out some of what’s new in the iPhone 6 and 6s compared to the iPhone 5 models. Here are a few things to consider when you are deciding whether or not to make the switch.

Size Matters

The most obvious difference when you look is that the iPhone 6 models are physically larger (and heavier) than all iPhone 5 models. The newer models are almost 10 millimeters longer and wider, and between 15 and 20 grams heavier, depending on which model you choose. The iPhone 6s is the heavier model, but either way you stack it, if you make the switch, you won’t be able to keep the same phone case.

On Display

While the screen resolution hasn’t changed much between the iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 models, there were some small improvements that might make an iPhone 6 model more visually appealing, but the real draw is in the new feature for the iPhone 6s: 3D Touch. This new option allows your phone to read how much pressure you use on the touchscreen and gives you more options when more pressure is applied. For example, more pressure on your camera icon, and the phone automatically allows you to switch modes, bringing up a menu so you can easily switch to selfie, video, etc.

Photo Finish

Each model of iPhone seems to improve over its predecessors. Both the iPhone 6 and 6s models follow in this trend. The iPhone 6s has the added benefit of moving from 8MP to 12MP for the camera. Additionally Apple has moved the selfie camera up to 5MP. This also allows for video recording at 4K, which is a nice capability. However, this also means videos take up significantly more storage on your phone.

Consider these factors when deciding if the upgrade is worthwhile for you. If you’re only hoping for a battery that lasts longer, none of these models are very different. Still, there are some real improvements to keep in mind.
